There will be times and seasons in your life when you will face the realm of impossibility. Every angle will seem to be closing in on you and there is no way through unless God makes a way. Do not fear these moments because God specializes in the supernatural. Natural situations that require supernatural intervention are divine moments where God will reveal His power in your life. Do not give up, give in, or throw in the towel because you are on the brink of crossing over to the other side of that which you are battling. Allow me to give you 4 commands revealed through Joshua that will empower you to crossover into the supernatural.
Joshua 3:1-7 says, “Then Joshua rose early in the morning, and they set out from Acacia Grove and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they crossed over. So it was, after three days, that the officers went through the camp; and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.”And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, “Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over before the people.” So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people. And the Lord said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.”
1. FOLLOW THE PRESENCE OF GOD
We must follow the presence of God and not the opinions of people if we are going to cross over to the other side of our personal Jordan. They commanded the people which means they laid charge of the people giving them orders to follow the ark of the covenant which represents the presence of God. There was to be no careless handling of the presence of God. Therefore it was transported by the priest and Levites. The command was that when you see the ark then you shall set out from your place and go after it. God is giving you the same charge today, tomorrow, and every day from this day forward to follow His presence. There is no chance you will cross the Jordan if you are making decisions or moving in directions predicated upon people, how you feel, your emotions, or your current financial state. You must move your life where the presence of God is. There will be breakthrough, provision, health, and every other thing you need on the other side of where God’s presence takes you but there is no breakthrough on this side of His presence. Many in this nation make decisions based on feelings instead of the fire of His presence. The Lord desires that you follow His presence by faith and you will see great and mighty things through His supernatural power.
Exodus 33:15 says, “Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.”
2. SANCTIFY YOURSELF AND SEE GOD’S POWER
To cross over your Jordan that seems impossible will require you to sanctify yourself before the Lord and ask Him to search you and set you apart. The word sanctify means to be set apart and consecrated to the Lord. God told them that if they sanctified themselves, by morning He would do wonders. The word wonders in Hebrew means surpassing and extraordinary. The Word of God gives us the blueprint to see God do surpassing and extraordinary things and within that blueprint is the clear call to sanctification. Here are four biblical ways to be sanctified. Though time will not allow me to elaborate I encourage you to study these four things:
1. We Are Sanctified By the Blood of Jesus Christ
Hebrews 13:12-14 says, “Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Therefore let us go forth to Him, outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.”
2. We Are Sanctified By the Word of God
Ephesians 5:26 says, “that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.”
3. We Are Sanctified By the Holy Spirit
1 Peter 1:2 says, “elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.”
4. We Must Sanctify Ourselves
2 Corinthians 6:17 says, “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”
3. CARRY THE PRESENCE OF GOD WITH YOU EVERYWHERE YOU GO
The next step to victory in the crossing over of your Jordan is to strengthen yourself in the presence of God. It was not just following the presence and getting sanctified. Joshua commanded them to take up the ark or take up the presence of God which means to carry the presence. When you follow the presence and get sanctified you then become a carrier of the presence. The same Spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead is on the inside of you. The Bible says they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people! Psalm 139 says, “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.”
4. STAND IN THE FACE OF DIFFICULTY AND MOVE FORWARD
This final step on crossing over your Jordan is critical for the supernatural. Right when you are at the edge of thinking there is no way out of your situation, the final command from God was to STAND. He tells them when they get to the edge of the waters STAND. Do not be intimidated by the nay-sayers, doctor’s reports, or people’s actions and reactions. You must STAND! The word stand in Hebrew means to take one’s stand, to take a stand against, to endure, to be steadfast, to be persistent. This is the spiritual posture before the breakthrough if you are going to see God’s supernatural power manifest.
When the people followed the commands given by Joshua to cross over the Jordan then the supernatural power of God dried up the waters and made a way where it looked like there was no way. If God did it for them He will surely do it for you.
