We live in an hour where we must be more discerning than we have ever been. The enemy has many plots and schemes in the last days that are assigned to wage war against your walk with God. The enemy’s primary goal is to steal, kill, and destroy. Once you can discern how the enemy operates then you will become more effective in overthrowing his battle strategies against your life.
2 Corinthians 2:11 says, “Lest Satan should take advantage of us, For we are not ignorant of His devices!
Galatians 5:16-17 says, “Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the Flesh lust against the spirit and the Spirit against the Flesh and these are contrary to one another so that you do not do the things that you wish.”
1. DEFINING THE ENEMY
The goal is not to give the enemy airtime but we must know how the enemy operates. The phrase “Lest Satan should take advantage of us” in Greek means “to have more, to overreach, to defraud, an overwhelming desire to lust after what belongs to someone else. It also means to be outwitted by satan. We are not to be ignorant of the enemy’s devices. The word ignorant means that we should know and we should recognize the devil’s plans. The word devices means the thoughts, purposes, and designs of the devil. God has empowered His Church to be discerning of the thoughts, purposes, and designs of the enemy against our lives. As we discern the enemy’s plans we should also know that the enemy is a defeated foe in Christ.
Colossians 2:15 says, “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
2. SEVEN DEVICES OF THE DEVIL
Allow me to expose 7 destructive devices of the devil that you must destroy in the name of Jesus Christ in the last days. Be sure to watch the video podcast that will explain each of these in more detail.
1. DISTRACTIONS
The enemy loves to release a spirit of distraction to shift your focus from what God has called you to do to what the enemy is persuading you to do. A distraction is something that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. Hell’s plan is to not let up until he detours you from that thing that God gave you a passion for.
The enemy will use people in the church, circumstances, family members, etc. to distract you from God’s plan for your life.1 Corinthians 7:35 says, “And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.”
2. DISCOURAGEMENT
If the kingdom of hell cannot distract you in the last days then discouragement becomes another device of the devil. Discouragement is the lack of hope that the enemy seeks to deposit into your heart. Satan wants you to believe that things are worse than they really are. If the enemy can remove hope from your life then he can delay, detour, and derail you from what you are believing God for.
Isaiah 12:3 says, “Therefore with joy, you will draw water from the wells of salvation.”
Joshua 1:6 says, “Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.”
Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.“
3. DISILLUSIONMENT
The enemy will use disillusionment as a device that seeks to keep you from giving yourself completely to God. Disillusionment is the state of being disenchanted or disappointed by unfulfilled expectations. We must be careful in the last days to make sure that we do not place people on a pedal stool in our minds. People will disappoint and at times even fall away from Christ. You must serve Christ and Him alone regardless of what happens around you.
1 Corinthians 11:1 says, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.”
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
4. DISCONTENTMENT
Another device of the enemy to push you away from the things of God is the weapon of discontentment! Discontentment is when you live in that state of constantly wanting something better than the present situation! A restless longing for a better circumstance. You will find yourself constantly dissatisfied.
1 Timothy 6:6 says, “Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”
Philippians 2:14 says, “Do all things without complaining and disputing.”Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do in Word or deed do all in the name of the Lord Jesus giving thanks to God the Father.”
5. DISCORD
The enemy wants to drive a wedge in between your relationship with God through discontentment but he also wants to take it a step further and use the weapon of discord. Discord brings division into a situation. Beware of unforgiveness that will keep you away from God!
1 Corinthians 1:10-11 says, “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.”
Romans 16:17 says, “No I urge you brethren note those or mark those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine you have learned avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our lord Jesus Christ but their own belly and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.”
6. DISASSOCIATION
The enemy will use the weapon of disassociation to keep you out of the presence of God and from connecting with the body of Christ. To dissociate means to disconnect or separate from the body of Christ.
Hebrews 10:25 says, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
1 Corinthians 12:20 says, “But now indeed there are many members yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand I have no need of you nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. No much rather those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary.”
7. DECEPTION
The enemy will use the weapon of deception in the last days to pull you away from God. The word deception means that we must be careful so that no one misleads you. Deception means leading you into error. The enemy wants you to think that you are right even if you are wrong. One of the quickest ways that people are deceived is when they become hearers of the Word of God but not doers.
James 1:22-25 says, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”
