God desires to breathe life into His people and every aspect of their lives. The breath, wind or oxygen is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Please be sure to listen to the video podcast as I elaborate on the breath of God far more in-depth. Also, read these scriptures and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart.
Genesis 1:1-2 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.”
Job 33:4 says, “The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.”
John 16:13 says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
Romans 8:14 says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
1. THE BREATH OF THE SPIRIT PREPARES THE WAY
Since the beginning in the book of Genesis, we see where the Holy Spirit moved over the face of the deep when the earth was without form and was in chaos. Once the Holy Spirit prepared the way by hovering over the face of the deep God said, “Let there light.” The breath of God came forth through the spoken words from God and began to set the earth in order. By Genesis 2:7 we find where God formed man from the dust of the earth and then breathed the breath of life into him. When the breath of God came into Adam he went from a dead corpse to being alive with divine purpose.
2. THE BLOOD AND BREATH OF GOD
The oxygen of heaven came after God breathed the breath of life into Adam. Which means that God breathed His life blood into Adam. The blood and oxygen work together in the natural realm but also in the spirit realm. In the natural your blood carries oxygen through the body. Medical science tells us that red blood cells have hemoglobin in them that transports the oxygen in your body. The blood of Jesus transports the oxygen of Heaven into your life! The Holy Spirit moves based on the blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood for mankind and the next major event after He got up from the grave was the day of Pentecost. I want you to consider the reality that once the blood of Jesus was shed then the oxygen of heaven could come on the day of Pentecost through the wind blowing and the fire falling. Read Acts 2. The breath of God always follows the blood of Jesus. If you desire to experience the
breathe of God then make sure that you live a life that applies the blood of Jesus wherever there is any sin.
3. THREE KEYS TO BREATHING SPIRITUALLY
1. THE BREATH OF GOD BRINGS INSPIRATION
If you desire to be full of the breath of God then you must remember that it was the breath of God that wrote the Word of God. The breath of the Holy Spirit brings inspiration. When you read the Word, speak the Word, pray the Word, worship with the Word it is like having a spiritual breathing treatment. Paul told Timothy that all scripture is inspired by God which means it is God breathed. Divine inspiration is the process that ensures that the writers of the Word of God were accurate and without error because of the power of the breath of the Holy Spirit working through them.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Peter 1:20-21 says, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
2. THE BREATH OF GOD BRINGS REVELATION
Secondly, the breath of the Holy Spirit brings revelation. When God breathes on you then revelation begins to flow. Divine revelation is the process of God revealing His truth to mankind. God desires to breathe on your life revealing and unveiling His knowledge into your life.
Revelation 1:1 says, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John.”
3. THE BREATH OF GOD BRINGS ILLUMINATION
Thirdly the breath of the Holy Spirit brings illumination. Divine illumination is when God uses His Word to light up your understanding until you desire to go down a path that is pleasing to God.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
