God wants you thirsty for the rivers of His living water in your life. Water is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Imagine the Holy Spirit flowing like a river which means it is moving. The Holy Spirit is not like a lake that is stagnant and not mobile. Rivers in the natural can move so powerfully that they chip away at mountains until the mountain is reduced in size. Maybe you have some mountains that you are facing. Allow the river of the Holy Spirit to flow through your life and bring down those mountains of opposition. Jesus made it clear that if you are thirsty that you could come to Him and drink and out of your heart shall flow rivers of living water.

John 7:37 says, “If anyone thirst let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me as the Scripture out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Please be sure to watch the video podcast as I address the living water of the Holy Spirt in more detail. In this article I would like to give you five simple prophetic parallels between being dehydrated in the natural and dehydrated spiritually.

1. BAD BREATH

One of the signs of dehydration in the natural is that person will have bad breath. Basically when they talk it smells bad. This is interesting because when a person is spiritually dehydrated when they talk bad things come out of their mouth. Their language sounds bad because it is a language of bad words and negativity. This happens becasue they are not finding their source of life and conviction under the leadership of the living water of the Holy Spirit.

James 3:10 “Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.”

2. SUFFER FATIGUE

When a person is dehydrated they will suffer fatigue and they are unable to help with things. There body is not as mobile as it should be because they are always tired and hurting. When you are spiriutally dehydrated you will find that you start losing a desire to serve. It is like you end up in a state of not doing much to advance the kingdom of God. Spiritual dehydration causes you to feel spiritually sluggish and unwilling to serve.

Mark 10:43-45 says, “Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant. And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

3. EASILY ANGERED

When a person is dehydrated in the natural it causes their body temperature to overheat and they become easily angered. When a person is spiritually dehydrated just watch them they are easily angered and they begin to respond out of their flesh known as the sinful nature.

Galatians 5:19-21 says, “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told

you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

4. LACK OF SELF CONTROL

When you are dehydrated in the natural it causes muscle spasms and your muscles will start making involuntary movements without your control. In other words you begin to lack control. When you are spiritually dehydrated you will begin to lack self- control in your walk with God.

Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

5. UNWISE DECISIONS

When a person is dehydrated in the natural they will get light headed and in that moment their ability to make wise decisions declines. The same thing happens when you are spiritually dehydrated you will begin to make unwise decisions.

Proverbs 18:1 says, “A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire;
He rages against all wise judgment.”

We must get thirsty in the last days and break spiritual dehydration by drinking of the living water of they Holy Spirit. Psalm 42 reveals that as the deer thirst for water our soul should thirst for the living God. Psalm 63 declares that God is our God and early we should seek Him and our souls should thirst and our flesh should long for Him.
