God desires to baptize His people in the Holy Ghost and fire. I remember being a young person many years ago who would watch people get baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking of tongues. I came home one day and as I stood in my bedroom I said, “Lord if this is real then baptize me in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.” As soon as I declared that to God it was as if the heavens opened up and the Holy Spirit invaded my heart as the language of heaven began to come off my lips and everything began to shift in my life. To be baptized in the Holy Spirit means to be immersed in the Spirit or to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Imagine your spirit, soul, and body being immersed in the Holy Spirit until you walk in power! Be sure to watch the video podcast as I expound on this topic. However, I want to give you 8 things that will happen when you are baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 3:11 says, “I indeed Baptize you with water unto repentance but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, Whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

Ephesians 5:18 says, “Do not be drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

1. YOU WILL BEGIN TO SPEAK IN TONGUES

The baptism in the Holy Spirit will empower you to speak in tongues. The word tongues simply means language. Your tongue is one of the most impactful members of your body that can consume the course of nature according to the book of James. Therefore, it absolutely makes sense for God to fill you with His Spirit and put the language of heaven inside of you. Throughout the book of Acts, we find that they were speaking in tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance. Speaking in tongues was the Initial physical evidence that a Holy Spirit baptism had occurred. Read these passages: Acts 10:45-46, and Acts 19:6.

Acts 2:4 says, “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

2. YOU WILL BEGIN TO WALK IN BOLDNESS AND POWER

The baptism in the Holy Spirit brings personal boldness to your life. We can’t be afraid to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When the Spirit of God fills your life then boldness and power will fill your life empowering you to do what God has called you to do in the earth!

Acts 4:31 says, “And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.”

Acts 1:8 says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

3. YOU WILL BEGIN TO PROPHESY

The baptism in the Holy Spirit empowers you to begin to prophesy. To prophesy means to share the heart of God in the earth which may include revealing future events.

You will suddenly and supernaturally be able to know the things that God desires that you speak into the earth that are in alignment with what He is saying. The reality is that when you get filled with the Spirit of God you have the ability to be God’s mouthpiece in the earth.

Acts 2:17 says, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.”

4. YOU WILL BEGIN TO HAVE INCREASED SENSITIVITY TO SIN

The baptism in the Holy Spirit will cause you to have an increased sensitivity to sin. There will be an increased hunger and desire for righteousness in your life. You will notice that suddenly things that you used to think were ok to do before are no longer ok in your heart.

Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.”

John 16:7-8 says, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.”

1 Corinthians 6:11 says, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

5. YOU WILL WALK IN THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The baptism in the Holy Spirit empowers you to walk in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You need the gifts of the Holy Spirit in operation in your life in the last days especially as deception fills the earth.

Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-10 and you will find that the Holy Spirit releases these gifts of the Spirit them as He wills: Word of Wisdom, Word of Knowledge, Faith, Gifts of Healing, Working of Miracles, Prophecy, Discerning of Spirits, Different Kinds of Tongues, to another interpretation of Tongues! If you are lacking in these gifts then ask the Holy Spirit to fill your life.

6. YOU WILL BEGIN TO HAVE A GREATER DESIRE TO PRAY

The baptism in the Holy Spirit will cause you to have a greater desire to pray. Talking to God will become a very exciting thing consistently not just something that happens when you are in a trial. When you do not feel like praying then ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:41-42 says, “Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Romans 8:26 says, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

7. YOU WILL BEGIN TO HAVE A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORD OF GOD

The baptism in the Holy Spirit will release a deeper understanding of the Word of God in your life. The Holy Spirit will cause the Word of God to come alive to you through

the power of revelation. When you feel that you are reading the Word of God and cannot understand the scripture then pray for a fresh baptism in the Holy Spirit.

John 16:13 says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

8. YOU WILL HAVE A GREATER AWARENESS OF GOD BEING YOUR FATHER

The baptism in the Holy Spirit will increase your awareness of God being your Father. Many see God as being in some far-away place. The reality is that He is your Father in heaven and the Holy Spirit helps you understand His Fatherhood.

Romans 8:15 says, “For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
