The Power and the Purpose of the Trumpet Blast

What a glorious day it will be when the trumpet of God sounds and Jesus cracks clouds to return for His people. When this day occurs there will be no way to return to the earth and accomplish all that we wanted to do to advance the kingdom of God. Every opportunity that we had to win souls for Christ will be completely over. Whatever we have done for the Kingdom of God up to that point is established for eternity. Are you living your life like Jesus Christ is going to sound the trumpet soon?

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 says, “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

Allow me to stir your heart with the power and the purpose of the trumpet blast in hopes that your heart is ignited to get busy being about your Father’s business while you still have time.

1. THE POWER OF THE TRUMPET BLAST

When that great day of the trumpet blast hits the earth during the great catching away of the saints known as the rapture of the church these powerful things will occur according to 1 Thessalonians 4:

1. THE LORD HIMSELF WILL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN

There will be the power of the Lord descending! The Word of God reveals that the Lord Himself will descend from heaven. We can barely handle the tears He brings in worship, the knockdown power at the altar, and chills and shakes when the Holy Spirit comes upon us while on the earth. Can you imagine Jesus coming down from heaven and we will see Him face to face? The days of seeking the face of God without being a blue to visibly see Him will be over. You will see Him as He is!

Acts 1:11 says, “The angels said to the disciples as they gazed into Heaven. “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This

same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

2. THE LORD WILL DESCEND WITH A SHOUT

There will be the power of the shout! It is clear that Jesus is not coming back quietly but He is coming back with a shout. He is not going to whisper His way out of Heaven! He is not going to sound like the quiet church that has no praise on their lips and no shout in their voice! The Bridegroom will be so excited to come get the Bride of Christ that He will do so with a shout.

The Word shout in Greek means a call, summons, or a command! Every blood-bought believer in Jesus Christ is being summoned to the courtroom of heaven on that day where we have been declared not guilty because of the blood of Jesus Christ that has washed our sin away.

3. THE VOICE OF AN ARCHANGEL

There will be the power of the voice of an archangel! Rapture day is going to be amazing as the sound of the voice of the archangel will thunder the earth! The power that is revealed during angelic visitations in the Bible draws people to their knees. When we take flight from earth to heaven there will not be a demon in hell that will be able to snatch us out of the air as we ascend into heaven as the angels will be on guard. What a powerful day of being escorted by the angelic armies of heaven.

4. THE TRUMPET OF GOD

There will be the power of the trumpet of God! When Jesus comes it is such a celebratory day for the saints that the trumpet of God is going to sound. I cannot wait for the sound of that trumpet. The Bible refers to trumpets being used to gather people in Numbers 10:6-7. The trumpet of God will gather God’s people in the air and relocate them to their eternal destination of heaven.

5. THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST

There will be the power of graves opening up! The saints that are alive during that time will not get to meet Jesus in the clouds before the resurrected bodies of the saints of old that passed on before us. On this glorious day, tombstones are going to rattle, crack, and the ground of their graves is going to split. Caskets are going to surface to the top of the ground and God is going to bust open the lid transforming the remains into a glorified body. Even the seas will have to give up the dead. As fast as the speed of light the remains of the bodies of the saints of old are going to shoot out of that grave and meet the lord in the air.

John 5:28 says, “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.”

6. THOSE WHO ARE LIVING WILL BE CHANGED

There will be the power of our bodies being changed. As soon as we see those graves open and the bodies of the precious saints of old start leaving the grave and being transformed the believers who are alive on the earth will be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 says, “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”

You’re going to have a complete heavenly makeover with your brand- new body. This will be your day because everything about you on rapture day is going to change! Everything you do not like will change on that day. There may be some things that you do like that God changes on that day. The word changed in Greek means to transform into another. The word moment in Greek means indivisible, to cut, unable to divide how quickly you will be changed. You will not be able to fathom how quickly God is going to change you.

7. WE WHO ARE ALIVE WILL BE CAUGHT UP

There will be power in being caught up! We will be caught up at the speed of light. Light travels at 186,400 miles per second.

Matthew 24:27 says, “For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

To put things into perspective the power in which we will be caught up is as lightning flashes from the East to the West. Angels travel at the speed of light. This means an angel can travel 7.2 around the entire globe of 25,000 miles in circumference in one second. This is how fast the church will be caught up at the speed of light. There will be no time to try to repent at the last minute.

Ezekiel 1:14 says, “And the living creatures ran back and forth, in appearance like a flash of lightning.”

8. WE SHALL FOREVER BE WITH THE LORD

There will be power in eternal life! Can you imagine when everything is over and you are forever with the Lord? You are no longer worshipping and praying to the God of heaven that you cannot see. You will be able to

see Him as you worship and talk to Him for eternity. There will be no tears, no pain, no sin, and no shame! You will be full of life!

John 10:10 says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

2. THE PURPOSE OF THE TRUMPET BLAST

Allow me to give you at least four quick purposes of the trumpet blast:

1. TO RECEIVE THE SAINTS TO HIMSELF AS THE LORD PROMISED

John 14:1-3 says, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

The Lord desires to bring you home to your final resting place of eternal life in His presence. The trumpet blast initiates this most amazing moment that could ever happen to a human being.

2. TO MAKE THE SAINTS WHOLE IN BODY, SOUL AND SPIRIT

Philippians 3:20-21 says, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”

You are a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body and the heart of God on the day of the trumpet blast is to put all of who you are in order for eternity. You will no longer be affected by Sin and death. Who would not want that?

3. TO CAUSE THE SAINTS TO ESCAPE THE TRIBULATION

LUKE 21:36 “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Revelation 4:1 says, “After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

The heart of God is that His blood-believers escape His wrath. The trumpet blast at that moment signals that the Body of Christ will escape the tribulation.

4. TO REMOVE THE HINDRANCE TO THE ANTICHRIST BEING REVEALED

2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 says, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.”

The reality is that the blood-bought believers in Jesus Christ have authority over the devil. If you have authority over all the power of the enemy according to Luke 10:18-19 then there is no chance that the antichrist would be able to fulfill Bible prophecy as long as the church is on the earth.

Notice the order of the purposes of the trumpet blast. God takes you home as He promised. He makes you whole in spirit, soul, and body. He causes you to escape a tribulation that is not designed for you. Finally, He removes you and all of your spiritual authority from being a hindrance to the antichrist being revealed in the last days.
