All believers have a passion inside of them to know the will of God for their lives. What you must understand is the will of God requires that you know the Word of God. The enemy is extremely deceptive and you cannot assume that just because something feels good that it is good and that it is the will of God for your life. Feelings can be a deceptive weapon of the enemy that nudges you down a path that seems right but in the end, it is wrong.
Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
Allow me to give you five keys to walking in the will of God that are backed by the sure Word of God. If you will utilize these keys you will be thrusted onto a Godly path of unlocking the will of God for your life biblically.
1. You Must Pray that Your Earth Looks like Heaven
Jesus taught His disciples to pray heaven on earth. All followers of Jesus must understand that accessing the will of God for your life requires that the will of God finds its origin in heaven not on earth. Take the time to meditate on these two verses that call you to a place of praying the will of God on earth as it is in heaven as well as setting your mind on things above.
Matthew 6:9-10 says, “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
Colossians 3:1-2 says, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
2. You Must be Hungry for the Will of God
Once Jesus was done ministering to the woman at the well the disciples were concerned about Him getting food to eat. His response was transformational because He made a very profound and prolific statement declaring that His food is to do the will of the Father. In other words, His hunger for the will of God to impact the woman at the well was stronger than His natural hunger. If you desire to walk in the will of God then you must develop a hunger to fulfill God’s plan for your life that is stronger than your desire for food.
John 4:33-34 says, “Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”
3. You Must Seek the Will of God for Your Life
One of the most crippling lies of the devil in the last days is that the will of God for your life is automatic. He will whisper the deception that if something is the will of God for you then it will just happen. Jesus taught the will of God must be sought. The word seek in Greek means to search out, desire, require, and demand. It is our responsibility to seek God for His will in our lives.
John 5:30 says, “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.”
4. You Must Understand the Will of God
We should never be unwise or foolish concerning the will of God. The word unwise in Greek means to not be senseless, inconsiderate, or lacking the proper perspective concerning the will of God. The Bible calls us to understand the will of God. Understand in Greek means to consider and perceive the will of God. Many live their lives as if it is optional to know and understand the will of God for their lives. This type of thinking is a violation of scripture.
Ephesians 5:17 says, “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
5. You Must Fulfill The Will of God With Your Heart
Many believers make the mistake of attempting to only wrap their heads around the will of God instead of engaging His will for their lives with their hearts. God desires that you fulfill His will for your life from the heart. The heart in Greek is defined as your vital breath inside of you and your soul which is your mind, will, and emotions. Imagine approaching the will of God for your life with your mind full of thoughts concerning the will of God, with your will full of actions concerning the will of God, and with your emotions full of feelings about the will of God. When your mind, will and emotions are engaged in the will of God you will use the breath that God gave you on this earth to fulfill nothing less than what He has called you to do.
Ephesians 6:5-8 says, “ Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.”
As you can see in all of these keys to unlocking the plan of God for your life each of them requires the Word of God to fulfill the Will of God!
