The time is now for the body of Christ to walk in the miraculous power of God. Many in the last few days are wondering if the God of miracles, signs, and wonders is still moving across the earth. Every blood-bought believer who allows the Holy Spirit to work through their lives is a carrier of the miraculous power of God.
1 Corinthians 12:7-10 says, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.”
1. WHAT IS THE GIFT OF MIRACLES?
As believers, we must desire that the gift of the miraculous power of God works in our lives. The gift of miracles is defined as the supernatural ability to alter the normal course of nature. The gift of miracles is God’s supernatural power to intervene and counteract earthly and evil forces. The working of miracles is when God defies the natural laws of this earth with the supernatural laws of heaven. There is absolutely nothing on this earth that we can face that the miraculous power of God cannot fix! The word miracles comes from the Greek word dunamis which means power and might that multiplies itself. The book of Hebrews reveals that by faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
The gift of miracles works in conjunction with the gift of faith and healing. When God releases the gift of miracles he suspends and overrules the natural laws of the earth. Heaven becomes the dominant factor in the earth! The miraculous power of God is what created the entire universe.
2. FOUR DIFFERENT TYPES OF MIRACLES
There are at least four different types of miracles that can be released through the power of God on the earth. I believe that God can empower His children to operate in any of them.
1. MIRACLES OVER NATURAL DEATH
In the natural 10 out of 10 people die. The Bible says that it is appointed for every man to die once and appear before God in Judgement. However, according to the Word of God, God can release a gift of miracles to defy the natural laws of death and leave doctors puzzled at His power. In the Old Testament in 1 Kings 17:9-24 Elijah came across a widow whose son grew very ill and finally stopped breathing and died! Elijah transformed the atmosphere with the gift of miracles and he took the boy to the upper room and cried out to God to let this boy’s life return back into him and he stretched himself out on him 3 times! God released the gift of miracles and his life returned back into him so Elijah picked up the child and returned him to his mother.
In 2 Kings 4:18-37 Elisha had a similar experience when he came across the Shunammite woman and her son Died! Elisha told his servant to take his staff and put it on the son’s face so he did and nothing happened! The servant returned and said there was no sound and no response. Elisha goes and gets on that bed and puts his mouth on his mouth and his eyes on his eyes, his hands on his hands, and all of a sudden the boy’s body gets warm! Elisha got back on the bed and stretched himself out on him and the boy sneezed 7 times and opened his eyes. Isn’t our God an awesome God? He defied the powers of death and transformed the atmosphere with the gift of miracles.
In the New Testament Jesus operated in the gift of the miracles and He defied the law of death. Not only did He get up from the grave Himself but He raised others from the dead. He transformed atmospheres consistently with the gift of miracles. The Bible says in Luke 7:11 that Jesus came into a certain town and a dead person was being carried out who was awidow’s only son. She had lost her husband now she lost her son. Jesus saw her crying and was moved with compassion. Jesus went up and touched the coffin and the pallbearers stood still and Jesus said, “Young man I say to you Get Up! The Deadman set up and started talking and Jesus gave Him back to his mother.
Consider John 11 Jesus walked up to the tomb of Lazuras who had been dead for four days but through His miraculous power he said, “Lazarus come forth.” Lazarus came out of the tomb with his grave clothes on and he turned to His disciples and said, “loose him and let him go!” We know that God can defy the laws of death with the power of life.
2. MIRACLES OF SUPPLY
There are not only miracles over death but also miracles of supply that God can release out of heaven. We must remember that heaven always has enough. There is never a lack in the kingdom of heaven.
Consider Exodus 17:6 Moses walked in the gift of miracles and began to transform the atmosphere. The children of Israel camped where there was no water and they began to quarrel with Moses saying, “Give us a drink. Did you bring us out of Egypt to die a thirst?”
Moses cried out to the Lord, “What am I to do with these people?” The Lord said, “Take your staff and strike the rock and water will come out.” Moses did as He was commanded and struck the rock and water began to come out of the rock so that the people were able to drink.
God transformed the atmosphere with the supernatural miracle of supply. You will continue to find this miracle in the Word of God.
Consider Deuteronomy 29 Moses walked in the gift of miracles when the children of Israel were under His leadership and their clothes and sandals did not wear out. It was the miracle of supply. In John 6 Jesus came across 5,000 hungry people. Jesus operated in the gift of miracles and took a little boy’s lunch of 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread and blessed it until 5.000 people had a buffet line of fish and bread. There were even leftovers! In Matthew 17:24-27 Jesus supplied tax money from the mouth of a fish.
3. MIRACLES THAT CHANGE NATURE
The gift of miracles has the power to change nature. Looking at things in the natural in the book of Exodus we find Moses and the children of Israel in an impossible place of needing to cross the Red Sea. The God of the universe had Moses lift up his rod and the gift of miracles broke out and a strong east wind drove the water upon each side like a wall and created a path of dry land. The power of God transformed nature!
Imagine Joshua 10 when the gift of miracles moved upon the life of Joshua and God caused the sun and moon to stand still as God responded to the situation. The delaying of the sunset with God’s supernatural power enabled Israel to defeat their enemies. Jesus walked in the gift of miracles when the storm rose in the boat and he rebuked the wind and the sea and instantly the storm obeyed him in Mathew 8:23-27. Jesus transformed nature when he defied the laws of gravity and walked on top of the water! We must never forget that God can transform any atmosphere.
4. MIRACLES OF GOD’S JUDGMENT
Finally, there is the miracle of judgment. Remember the miraculous plagues that God put on Egypt in Exodus 7-12. Consider Miriam as she came against Moses and she was miraculously judged by being struck with leprosy in Numbers 12. Numbers 16 reveals how God caused the earth to open up miraculously and swallow the rebellious men of Korah. Consider Genesis 19:24 when God rained down fire from heaven and destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their iniquity.
The miraculous power of God should cause each and everyone of us to fear the Lord like never before. God has no limitations! Nothing can overcome God and there is nothing that God cannot overcome!
