God desires that His people walks in the fullness of the anointing. God gave Moses the recipe of anointing oil that I believe serves as a prophetic blueprint of different aspects that are required in our lives to walk in the fullness of the anointing!
Exodus 30:20-33 says, “Moreover the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Also take for yourself quality spices–five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet- smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane (Calamus) , five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil. And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil. With it you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony; the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense; the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base. You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them must be holy. And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests. And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations. It shall not be poured on man’s flesh; nor shall you make any other like it, according to its composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you. Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on an outsider, shall be cut off from his people.”
1 John 2:27 says, “But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you,
you ]will abide in Him.”
Make sure that you take the time to watch the video podcast to get a full understanding of this teaching. However, allow me the opportunity to give you the five ingredients to the anointing oil that prophetically parallel how the anointing should operate in the life of every blood-bought believer in Jesus Christ.
1. MYRRH
Exodus 30 reveals that Moses should take for himself quality spices–five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh. Pure myrrh is a perfume or fragrant gum used in the holy anointing oil; which comes from the stem of a low, thorny, ragged tree growing in Arabia and East Africa. Myrhh during the time of Jesus was said to have greater value than Gold. Myrhh was not only used for burial, but health, creating youthful skin, and boosting the immune system. It is a reddish-brown resinous material, the dried sap of the tree Commiphora myrrha. The scent of raw myrrh resin and its essential oil is sharp, pleasant, and somewhat bitter and can be roughly described as being “stereotypically resinous”. This substance is mentioned as a perfume and is one of the ingredients of the holy incense. Myrrh comes more abundantly by splitting the bark and it releases a sweet smell but taste bitter. Jesus’ body was split at the whipping post and on the cross which is a bitter thought but it produced the sweetness of the salvatoin of mankind.
Myrrh represents the reality that something has to die. Those who walk in the anointing must be willing to be crucified with Christ realizing they no longer live but
Christ lives in them and through them. They must deny themselves take up their cross and follow Jesus dying daily to their flesh. The Apostle Paul said, “I die daily.”
Christ death was sweet because it bought us back from the slavery of sin but bitter because the Son of God had to suffer!
2. CINNAMON
The second ingredient to the anointing is the cinnamon. Cinnamon oil comes from a tree and is prepared by roughly pounding the bark, liquifying it in seawater, and then quickly distilling the whole. It is of a golden-yellow color, with the characteristic odor of cinnamon and a very hot aromatic taste! Cinnamon oil is not an easy oil to get. Everybody needs to understand that walking in the anointing hurts. You may feel like you are getting spiritually pounded by the trials of life.
James 1:2-4 says , “Count it all joy my brothers when you fall into various trials for you know that the testing of your faith produces patience.”
1 Peter 4:12 says, “Beloved do not count it strange concerning fiery trials which are to try you as though some strange thing has happened to you, rejoice that you are partaker in Christ’s sufferings that when His glory is revealed you will be glad with exceedingly great Joy.”
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says, “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”
Isaiah 43: 2 says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”
2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Those who desire to live a Godly life in Christ will be persecuted.”
The word cinnamon actually means to burn with zeal. Zeal means a fiery commitment or a firey devotion to God. I believe the anointed walks in the fire of the Holy Ghost.
3. CALAMUS
The third ingredient in the anointing oil is calamus which is a tall perennial wetland monocot with scented leaves and rhizomes which have been used medicinally, for its odor and is used as a psychotropic drug which effects the mind emotions and behavior! The word Calamus means to create a power to recover or to stand upright!
When this spice is ground into powder a sweet smelling oil is produced that Incites healing and kills the root of the disease. Calamus impacts internal feelings such as caring, calming, compassion, mercy. Imagine the anointing on your life causing your mind to be renewed and you living a
4. CASSIA
The fourth ingredient in the anointing oil is cassia. The word cassia comes from a word meaning, “to bow down or to bend the body.” Cassia represents the need for those who are walking in the anointing to always maintain a surrendered heart before th Lord.
John 5:30 Jesus said, “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me. “
John 15:5 says, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
James 4:7 says, “Submit to God resist the devil and he shall flee!” 5.OLIVE OIL
The final and main ingredient is olive oil. The olive tree “epitomizes the Spirit of the Lord” and for that reason it was forbidden to cut it down in ancient times. The base of the anointing oil was the Olive oil. Oil is used here as the word for knowing, authority from one in an authority, and also means one who knows sees and observes. The word olive means an olive for the oil of illumination. God desires that those who walk in the anointing of the Holy Spirit realize that God desires to show them things that they did not know before by illuminating them with the light of His Word.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet an a light to my path.”
Notice you don’t get oilve oil without crushing. This is a prophetic picture of how the anointing in our lives cost something and that cost may be a process of feeling like you are going through a season of crushing.
Allow me to review the effects of the five ingredients of the anointing in the natural and what we have in our lives. The anointing is about dying to self, it is about being willing to suffer for Christ and stand for the truth, it is about healing anything in the spirit. soul, or body, and it is about submission to authority. Finally, the anointing is about the Word of God illuminating every aspect of your life with truth.
